Score Comparisons

Just for kicks I thought I would calculate the scores from the April 04 CA Rangers match using the IPSC method. For number of points per stage I used the number of targets x 5. The 5 represents 5 seconds per miss. I figured additional penalties (procedurals, etc.) into the raw time.

The way this is calculated is to first calculate the hit count:
HC = NumPointsForStage/RawTimeForStage

Then Calculate the percentage of the results against the shooter with the highest hit count. The highest hit count is then scored at 100%.

Finally, calculate the number of points for the stage:
Points = HC * Percentage

For example, Stage 4 Badlands Bud had the highest HC. HC=120/16.48, or 7.28. As he had the highest HC, he is awarded 100% or all 120 points for the stage. I had a HC of 6.99 (rounded) or 115points (1 miss) / raw time of 16.46.
My percentage of his score is then 96.
So I get 114.68 points (or 96% of 120 points, figure the rough rounding as why the numbers don't quite match up.).

As to whether or not this is a more fair way to score, I don't know. But it's a possibility.
