Rode a Century Yesterday!
Home |
Weight loss update: 160. I'm planning to drop
another 10. I'd like to settle in at
150. I'm wiped. Yesterday I rode the bicycle equivalent of a marathon. A century. That's 100 miles. Actually, my ride came in at 108. With 5400 feet of climbing. And I burned about 4000 calories over the 7 1/2 hours I spent riding. I'm really thrilled that I was able to accomplish this. Only right now I feel awful. My body hurts and I'm coming down with something. A sore throat and a low grade fever. My daughter has the same thing. My son had it last week. The route meandered all over. We went to El Dorado Hills, Rescue, down to Latrobe, back to El Dorado Hills, up to Folsom and then Loomis before returning to Folsom to head home. Anyway, here are some pictures from the ride: This is Craig. He joined me for the ride. Looking back down the Serrano grade. This was a steady 9% climb for
about 2 miles. Tough hill! Here I am sitting in Subway where we stopped for lunch. They let us bring our bikes into the Subway. Which was really nice
considering neither of us has a lock! Craig at lunch. A sign over the American River Bike Trail on the bridge at the top of
Lake Natoma. I get a chuckle every time I see it. This is a shot looking upriver from the bridge. |
