Since I wrote Black Powder Loading for CAS, I've
discovered (actually, someone told me about it but I don't remember who) a
faster way to clean up a shotgun. This gets plastic wad material out easily
too!
- Take the barrels off the receiver.
- Liberally squirt your favorite cleaning fluid
(very hot water works well) down the bore and let it
sit while you clean your rifle and pistols.
- Run a wadded up piece of wet paper towel through
the bore. Make sure it's a very snug fit, but not so
tight as to get stuck on the other side of the
forcing cone.
- Run a few damp patches through on a cleaning
jag, followed by a dry patch (or two to get the
water out), and then one covered in lube.
Pretty easy, huh? It only takes a few minutes and does a great job. |
