Skin diseases (penyakit kulit) is one of the common diseases that can affect almost anyone in this entire population. It can range from mild to severe skin conditions. Usually, people with a skin disease might appear to have a low self-esteem. This is actually true if the disease affects the face or any exposed skin, making the individual to feel ashamed with their skin condition. There are a lot of types of skin diseases in this world. Some are very mild and do not need any intervention, but some can be very painful and even can lead to major injury. Thankfully, most of these diseases are not without cure. Most of it only requires a simple medication in order to treat it. In this article, we will discuss some common types of skin diseases that people usually experience.

  1. Acne

Acne, or its scientific name, Acne Vulgaris is one of the skin conditions that is very common among us especially the teens and even the adults. Acne is a teen biggest nightmare especially if it occurs in a lot of amounts. Acne usually happens due to hormonal changes in an individual, causing the hair follicle and oil gland to be blocked. This blockage will then cause acne due to some chemical reaction at that site. Acne needs to be treated as soon as possible because if not, it will cause permanent scarring and dark spots.

Atopic dermatitis, or better known as eczema, is one of the skin conditions that usually affects children. Children with eczema will often complain of itchiness, dry skin and feeling uncomfortable. Usually, it can occur at the hands, skin fold and also feet. The cause for this condition is unknown, however scientists often mentioned that it can be caused by multiple factors such as the environment, genetics or even the immune system. The treatment for eczema condition will usually be the topical steroid in order to remove and stop the inflammation.

  1. Sunburn

This skin condition seems nothing, but it is actually needed to gain serious attention. Sunburn might happen if someone exposes themselves to direct UV light for too long. Under this circumstance, the skin might become too red, painful to touch and sometimes the skin can peel off. Do not underestimate what an ultraviolet ray can do. Repeated exposure of this light can also cause cancer cells to develop, hence contributing to skin cancer. If you need to go outside during hot weather, please be prepared. You can choose to use an umbrella or sunblock lotion in order to help protect your skin from sunburn.

  1. Hives

The scientific name for hives is urticaria. Hive can be characterized by its red, raised and itchy lesion. Usually, hives can be caused by an allergic reaction towards bee stings, food or medication. This condition usually goes away in 2 to 4 hours. However, someone with chronic urticaria might suffer for months. If you think your skin condition is getting worse and will not go away, consider meeting your doctor as soon as possible to get an appropriate treatment.

As mentioned above, one of the major factors towards skin cancer is because of repeated exposure to ultraviolet rays (UV rays). One of the commonest forms of skin cancer is known as basal cell carcinoma. If you have this skin condition, your doctor might suggest you to undergo various forms of treatment that includes medication radiation. If he or she thinks that your skin cancer is getting serious, your doctor might consider surgery in order to remove the cancer from your body.
